We all scream for ice cream!

Even in the middle of winter!
Kod and I got a fun, late wedding present the other night - an awesome, doesn't need ice or salt, ice cream making machine! We thought we give it a try the night we got it, so we quickly looked through the recipe booklet and found one for grapefruit sorbet. It was the only one that we had all the ingredients for and it sounded pretty good to us!

- My hands hurt after squeezing two grapefruits and got almost two cups of juice out!

- Kod learned about "zesting" as he zested the grapefruit rines. (We learned, after tasting the sorbet, that next time we'd prefer to leave the "zest" out).
- We boiled sugar water and cooled it and then dumped everything into the machine!

Also during the night, I made some orange cranberry muffins and bread. It was amazing and the recipe is right here. Since Kod doesn't like cranberries, I have the bread all to myself and it's almost gone!

Kody left for class that night and I called my aunt and uncle to thank them for the gift. I periodically checked the mixture while talking to them and realized the 25-30 minutes it should take to freeze had passed. "What could have we done wrong??" I asked myself.

Well, we may have forgotten a very key step in the ice cream making process - freezing the freezer bowl for 6-22 hours.
Apparently you can't make ice cream if it's not cold. Who knew?!

Our homemade ice cream eating had to wait until Saturday. *tear*
Here's the final product:

Pretty good if you ask us!
My next experiment with the machine will be vanilla ice cream with M&Ms, I think.
