Our new crib

We've definitely upgraded from our one bedroom, one bathroom upstairs apartment in Bourbonnais, IL. We are now the proud owners babysitters of a many bedroom, three-story beauty of a home with a big backyard, three-car garage, huge kitchen and a koi pond.

We've definitely enjoyed the space, but aren't completely adjusted to having to trek up and down the stairs to get our shoes, then my purse, then our jackets, etc. on the way out the house. That's why we've created this…

Our own little apartment within a giant house.

Each and every night you can find us here. After we come home from work, we make dinner in the kitchen, eat at the table (sometimes) and head upstairs to enjoy the rest of our evening. It definitely cozy, but the biggest perk is forgetting about the unwashed dinner dishes that sit in the kitchen sink! And since we rarely go back down to the kitchen, out of sight, out of mind! Well, until the next morning.

We've so thankful to the Carrs for letting us stay at their house!

The good, the bad and the fact that my work will make me fat

Two months into my new job and almost a month into Kody's new job, we are definitely appreciating the changes that came with the move, but realizing we have a lot to learn before we become veteran direct mail marketers and veterinarian assistants.

For those of you who don't know, we moved up to St. Charles and are house-sitting Kody's parents house while they enjoy their last few months in Puerto Rico. I got a job as a production assistant at a company that does direct mail marketing and Kody found a position as a vet assistant at a large vet clinic in St. Charles.

It's definitely been an adjustment having both of us working, with some definite perks and a few downsides. For instance, you'll notice my lack of blogging. Well, at my old job I had a tad bit (re: LOTS) more free time to do things, like blog, that I now have to do at home (definite downside). Now, I have a job at a growing company that has plenty of work for me to do throughout my time there (Not boring = definite perk!). And since Kody is now gone during the day, our nights are filled with eating leftovers, watching movies and enjoying the hot tub ... I mean making dinner, doing laundry and cleaning the house. Therefore, no time to blog. But I'll try to be better!

Here's a few fun facts about our new jobs:
- Katie drives 50 minutes to work.
- Kody drives 20.
- Kody has to bring a lunch to work.
- Katie's office continually tries to make her gain weight by supplying her with cheesecake, thai food, Quiznos, Panera, Ruby Tuesdays, coffee cake, bagels, donuts … You get the picture.
- Kody (typically) works 9-6.
- Katie works 9-6.
- Kody made dinner for Katie for the entire month that he was looking for a job (I have the most amazing husband ever!)
- Marla (Kody's mom) made dinner for Kody and Katie for the first two weeks Kody had a job.
- No one made dinner after Marla left - we only ate cereal. Just kidding! We enjoyed some lasagna, shrimp linguini and lots of leftovers last week.
- Kody works with about 50, I mean 15, women and two male vets.
- Katie works with an assortment of young and old, male and female.
- All of the women at Kody's work think he looks pretty good in his scrubs and his wife definitely agrees. However, the scrubs come home covered with dog pee and cat hair.
- Katie gets to enjoy the luxury of wearing jeans every day to work, but suffers from dirty feet when she wears flip-flops.
- Kody gets to play with dogs all day.
- Katie gets to lift heavy boxes in a warehouse.
- Kody showers ever day after work to rid himself of fur and pee.
- Katie vigorously scrubs, I mean thoroughly washes, her feet every day after work.
