Eat from the Pantry Challenge

While we've had this blog for over a year, and I read lots of other blogs, I haven't really gotten involved in the "blogosphere" at all. I tend to enjoy sitting back and watching other people's interactions. However, I do enter awesome giveaways and I even won once! A $5 gift card. :-)

Well, it's a new year, and now I'm getting involved! At least for the month of January.

Crystal from MoneySavingMom and FishMama from LifeAsMom are hosting an Eat from the Pantry Challenge in January that Kody and I are going to participate in!

I've yet to sit down and plan out meals or goals, but that will happen within the next few days and I'll be sure to let you know what they are. Basically though, I'm going to try to stay out of the grocery store as much as possible, except for basically milk, eggs and fresh fruit and veggies...and probably yogurt and cereal and meat and everything else our pantry doesn't have. Oh wait, that's not the point. Well, I am hoping to stay away from the stores and to go through the pantry and clean out a lot of old cans and food. We also have a few meals in the freezer, including lasagna, chili and chicken tetrazinni.

This is a good thing, especially considering I went $140 over our grocery budget in December! YIKES! I blame all the necessary holiday cooking!

Here's a look at our current pantry:

It's looks like we're going to be eating a lot of green beans, flour, chicken noodle soup, oatmeal, whey protein and a whole bunch of liquid ingredients and condiments.

Let the creative cooking juices flow!

*Details to come!
