Kody apparently decided after a year of marriage that he needed a little break from Bourbonnais, his wife and all the yummy meals I make him. He thought it'd be a great idea to go shadow some doctors in Chicago and leave Katie all alone to fend for herself for a few weeks. Really, I think he just wanted to experience the bachelor life he never had. :-)
So, since Kody is going to be gone Monday through Thursday for the majority of the next two months, I've taken my friend Emily's advice and made some goals for the next couple weeks. I'm worried I'm going to get very bored without Kody around to entertain me; however, I often think this and then end up too busy to take a break. We'll see how these next few lonely, sad, long weeks go.
Goals for when Kody is gone:
- Either run or attend fitness class ("Get Fit: Total Body Fitness" through the park district) on all the nights Kody is gone
- Read a lot: Finish my devotional book and "A Severe Mercy" and read "The Politically Incorrect Wife" and "The Host," plus any other fun ones I can fit in.
- Make plans with a friend each week (Even if the plans don't pan out, I have to at least make an attempt to follow through)
- Call at least one out-of-town friend each week
- Find a 5k race and register for it with Kody
- Make a "real" dinner for myself once while Kody is gone (I'm thinking on Tuesdays, beginning tonight with Spinach-pasta toss)
- Plan something fun to do with Kody to take advantage of our time together on the weekends: This weekend - SIX FLAGS!!
- Make dinner for Kody when he comes home
- Go to bed by 11 p.m. each night (I have a tendency to stay up later when I'm home alone)
- Schedule much needed doctor, dentist and hair appointments
- Visit my homegroup leaders
- Purchase a new planner
- Put textbooks up on half.com to sell
- Try not to eat all of our ice cream by myself
I'm off to a somewhat good start tonight with a 2-mile run, a homemade dinner and plans to hang out with a friend tomorrow night, but I may have had a bit of ice cream. :/
Ahhh!! Richard just left ME for two months to do an internship at the Virginia Supremem Court!
ReplyDeleteWHY do we not live closer to each other?? We are both hubby-less!
Yay for Spinach-Pasta Toss! Isn't it so yummy? I hope you survive this time! I know that I would definitely go crazy, too.
