- Disclaimer: Just wanted to clarify for everyone that I did put all those chicken meals in the freezer and we will probably be enjoying all of them in the next couple weeks!
- Avocado update: Don't ever buy 10 avocados for two people and expect to eat them all. We may still have two left (although they were thrown away tonight) weeks after buying them. I think we wasted probably half of them, if not more. Sad day :( Lesson learned.
- We traveled to Tennessee this past weekend to see Olivet's track team at the NAIA National meet in Johnson City, TN. We also met up with Kacey and Bethany (Kod's bro and sis-in-law), Kody's parents and got to see Kody's cousin, Tasha, and her husband. We spent two nights in a cabin south of Nashville and this is what happens when Kody and Kacey get together in the outdoors:
We also visited my second cousins, the Mouckas, and explored Nashville on our own.
- With all these blogs that I check they're always telling me about free samples and other good deals. Here are a few that I've received in the mail lately! Well, more than a few! Three free year-long subscriptions to Martha Stewart's Living, Woman's Day and Family Circle magazines, four or five shampoo and conditioner samples, Fiber One bar, Chex Mix, free lotion and lots of other stuff not pictured, like Emergen-C, Cream of Wheat sample and a free bottle of Suave anything.

And sometimes I get so excited about these deals, like Quiznos giving away 1 million free subs! But here's what happened when Kody and I tried to redeem our free sub coupons during our Tennessee trip this past weekend:
- I printed them out a few days before we went because if we didn't print them the 1 million would have been given away by the time we got around to it. This meant the coupons expired on Saturday. No problem, right?
- Quiznos attempt #1: We were about to stop in Louisville, KY, but when we got stopped in rush hour traffic and would've had to go out of our way a little bit, we decided to drive on and hoped to find another one.
- Quiznos attempt #2: We found one about an hour outside of Louisville and we thought we could make it that far, so we drove on. CLOSED! The Quiznos was closed!! Like, for forever. I guess Quiznos didn't notify our GPS that it wasn't operating anymore. We settled on Taco Bell and Kody was very happy.
- Quiznos attempt #3: When we got to Johnson City, we suggested Quiznos for lunch with Kacey and Bethany. When we arrived, there was this big poster on the front door and on where you order saying that this Quiznos was not accepting the free sub coupons. Argh! So frustrating and so much for cheap traveling!
- The coupons made it home to Illinois with us, expired and unused, and are now in our recycle bin. :(
- Cheese!! We, unfortunately, go through a lot of cheese in this house. It's probably pretty unhealthy, but a little cheese just makes every meal a little better! I normally don't shop at Jewel-Osco because of their outrageous prices (at least I think they're outrageous), even though it's across the street. Well, here's what I got today for $2, plus the price of a cheese shredder, which for some reason we didn't have.

Fourteen(!!!) bags/cubes of Kraft cheese! They were on sale for $2 each and when you buy them you get $13 worth of Catalinas back! I've never used these Catalina coupons before, so I'll let you know how that goes, but I think spending $28 on cheese and getting $26 back is a pretty good deal!
OK -- All of the Quiznos that we went to to try to use ours said they weren't accepting them either. I think NO STORES were accepting them, and the whole thing was just a marketing ploy. I am mad at Quiznos.
