Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July! And happy "two years ago we got engaged" day!

For the last two 4ths, Kody and I have been in Bourbonnais and have enjoyed the beautiful Kankakee fireworks (nothing is quite like fireworks at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, but it'll do).

The first year we got engaged! I thought the Kankakee fireworks were spectacular that year! But I was maybe a little distracted :-) Last year Kody and I went back to the same spot as a month-old married couple expecting to see an amazing display again. It wasn't so amazing. Again, I think we were a little bit preoccupied the year before. Our plan is to go again this year, but with some neighbor friends and I'm sure it'll be a wonderful time.

And here's a little update on how I've been doing with my goals. Kody was gone for two days the first week and four days the second week (and he's home all week next week!!).

Week 1:
- Made Spinach Pasta for dinner one night (But won't be making that again, yuck! Definitely have decided I don't like cooked spinach).
- Had wonderful plans to make Kody dinner when he got back, but switched to pizza when that sounded much easier and was requested by Kody.
- Ran on Tuesday, walked with Liz on Wednesday, was lazy on Thursday (oops)
- I think I went to bed on time each night.
- Called many friends, but I'm not sure if I talked to any
- Had an awesome time at Six Flags!

Week 2:
- Didn't make any homemade meal for myself because we had too many leftovers (The main reason for this goal is so that I don't eat cereal and Ramen every night)
- Made Chipotle Chicken for Kody when he came home
- Bought a new planner! And love it!
- Ran on Monday, Get Fit class on Tuesday with Rachel, walked on Wednesday with Liz, Get Fit on Thursday with Rachel
- Finished devotional book and almost finished A Severe Mercy
- Wasn't too good about making my bedtime.
- Instead of making dinner, I decided to make these delicious bakery goods instead:

Irish Brown Bread

Blueberry Streusel muffins

Monkey Bread:

I would also like to introduce you to Edward (fondly named after Edward Cullen from Twilight), our new plant.

Kody bought Edward, a blushing bride hibiscus tree, about a month ago and we almost killed him within the first week of being in his new home when we left for Colorado/Omaha and didn't ask anyone to water him (whoops!). Since then, he's recovered well, but we're not sure if we killed his flowering ability. He may also die of not having enough room to grow. We'll let you know.
